Rewrite Your Wellness Story: Wisdom from Your Earliest Time May Improve Your Future

Dec 31, 2024 12:00PM ● By Nicole Miale

Psychologists have engaged in a debate for more than a century about the extent to which genetics (nature) or environmental influences (nurture) influence the growth and development of an individual. The prevailing belief of the majority of professionals now is that both nature and nurture play significant roles in children’s cognitive development. It seems likely that nature and nurture interact and even amplify each other’s effects. This raises another question for exploration: what if an individual’s character and behavior patterns are actually being formed while in utero or during birth itself? What if the blueprint for the whole of our lives and the way we live, is based on our conception, including the way we developed while in utero or what happened while we were being born?

This is the premise underpinning what is often called birth trauma. This means each individual develops with a birth script very early in development, establishing patterns of dealing with stress, excitement, disappointment, joy, etc. even before entering the world. The method of arrival into the world—C-section or natural birth, easy or difficult delivery, forceps used/not used or umbilical cord wrapped around the neck—then serves to solidify and strengthen an individual’s instinctive approach to the world. We thus each start life unconsciously locked into a way of being that may not serve us well as we mature and grow.

In India, the centuries-old philosophy and practice of Ayurveda teaches that an individual’s essence of being, or dosha, is determined at the moment of conception and influenced by the doshas of both parents. This goes beyond genetic predisposition for eye color or mental acumen and encompasses how an individual approaches situations and how they are able to process events happening around them. This seems particularly relevant right now, given the dizzying speed with which humans are being asked to process and integrate impactful world and community events.

Accessing the wisdom of the womb is a journey towards freedom that can benefit any individual no matter what their life experiences or beliefs. This conscious healing method can be especially helpful for those seeking to release patterns or challenges that may hold them back in life.

People are often drawn to this exploration to address a variety of challenges, including recurring relationship difficulties, unresolved physical or emotional trauma, feelings of being trapped or overwhelmed by the pressure to please others, stress related to work, or struggles with depression, anxiety, panic attacks or phobias. It can also help those who find themselves unable to connect with their emotions, survivors of abuse, or individuals simply seeking self-discovery and a deeper connection to joy and life.

This process offers an opportunity to unwind these burdens, reconnect, and step into a more liberated and peaceful state of being.

Spiritual teacher Dr. Eilis Philpott of Soul Healing Journey is now offering a new program to help individuals access their own history—in utero and at conception—to smooth their current life experience. Wisdom of the Womb is an afternoon of exploration and healing to find out how your conception and time growing and developing in the womb may be impacting your life now.

Philpott explains, “Although you do not have conscious memories of your birth events, there is what is known as ‘implicit memory’ or unconscious memories stored in your cells and energy bodies. Your subconscious sets up patterns based on these early experiences and recreates them whenever you are under stress, whether it’s perceived as positive or negative. During this workshop, we’ll look at potential patterns that may show up and discuss various ways to heal and clear them.”

During this three-hour workshop, participants will explore transformative concepts such as why and how some cultures intentionally invite the soul of their future child, the meaning of “conscious conception,” and how the journey of conception and time spent in utero can influence your life today. Participants will also reflect on their own experiences and awareness during this foundational period.

Guided meditations will be incorporated to help participants connect with their conception and time in utero, offering opportunities to uncover and shift unhelpful energetic patterns and release old patterns that no longer serve them.

Eilis Philpott is offering Wisdom of the Womb three times in the coming months, including January 19 at Shala Yoga in Fairfield, February 22 at Hidden Gem on Main in Wallingford, and on February 23 virtually. Investment is $70 per event. For more information or to register for any of the dates, visit SoulHealingJourney.com/Wisdom-of-the-Womb
