Community Mindfulness Project Receives Grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation
Community Mindfulness Project (CMP) has received a $10,000 grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to support its mission to improve the lives of people—especially those with limited financial means and high levels of stress—by empowering them to access the scientifically-proven benefits of meditation and mindfulness.
In the past two years alone, CMP has provided over 1,200 mindfulness sessions, serving over 14,000 attendees. Sessions are free of charge and open to the public via in person and distance options like Zoom. While programs originated in English, CMP recently launched programming in Spanish as it continues to seek ways to expand access to mindfulness tools for self-care. All programs are designed to address elevated levels of stress and anxiety in the community and offer a healthy means of support for physical, psychological, emotional and social well-being.
Formed in 2014, CMP is a Fairfield County-based nonprofit organization with a mission to offer a variety of evidence-based mindfulness and heart-opening practices to help people support their well-being.
Fairfield County’s Community Foundation promotes philanthropy as a means to create change in Fairfield County, focusing on innovative and collaborative solutions to critical issues impacting the community. They have awarded $180 million in grants to nonprofits in Fairfield County and beyond.
