Moving from Anxiety to Peace: The Ultimate Guide to Calm a Stressful Mind

Feb 01, 2018 01:55AM ● By Diane Bahr-Groth

Even before our day begins, our sleepy minds may be flooded with worrisome, negative thoughts, causing us to respond to daily life with feelings of anxiety, stress and fear. Our lives are full. Everyone is so rushed and busy. We live in a fast-paced environment in an age of high-speed technology filled with continuous pressure and perpetual change. Concerns about children, loved ones, education, health, work, finances, climate change and world issues can cause us to feel helpless and overwhelmed, often causing sleepless nights.

In today’s stressful world, we may find ourselves and loved ones challenged to create a feeling of safety and security. Modalities such as hypnosis and Thought Field Therapy (TFT) are natural, effective relaxation techniques to organically develop a real sense of relief and peace for adults and children alike.

Hypnosis is widely recognized by researchers and the medical field as a safe, natural and enjoyable state of deep physical and emotional relaxation. It can easily be used as an effective tool for everything from anxiety and stress reduction to self-esteem and behavior modification.

Developed by Dr. Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist, TFT is a protocol of healing that works with the meridian system, or the body’s energy system. By stimulating specific points on the body, it can produce quick, relaxing results to those suffering from issues such as fears, phobias, anxiety and stress. Each technique can help reduce the intensity of fear, stress, anger, loss and grief as well as negative thoughts, feelings and emotions related to perceived or real-life events.

Callahan began exploring alternative therapies in the early 1980s as a faster and better way to help those suffering from emotional distress. After years of research, he developed TFT, a field of energy psychology. This process integrates the sciences of acupuncture, the meridian system and applied kinesiology with the associated emotional problem in order to reduce and eliminate negative emotional and physical responses. The procedure is safe, drug-free and noninvasive. While stimulating specific meridian points in a precise order and thinking about the upsetting issue, we utilize the power of the body’s own bio-energy system to release the unwanted negative response. The National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices has added TFT as an effective practice for improving personal resilience/self-concept and self-regulation as well as reducing phobia, panic and generalized anxiety, and trauma -and stressor-related disorders and symptoms.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis may be as old as mankind itself. It can help us create desired physical and emotional change, achieve positive results, and implement self-healing where traditional medicine has often failed. Today, hypnosis is used in even conventional medical settings for conditions ranging from arthritis to childbirth to stress reduction. Major hospitals across the U.S. are also using hypnosis to speed surgical recovery, heal fractures faster, assist in reducing pain and improve healing of burns. It can help to alleviate negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs as well as eliminate the emotional blockages preventing us from accomplishing personal goals. Weight loss, smoking cessation, sleep issues, success, memory, fear, motivation and healing are commonly helped with hypnosis.

It can naturally help people overcome the mental or emotional obstacles preventing us from living life to its fullest as it empowers us to set and accomplish goals. It helps to focus the mind’s power of concentration to enhance the medicine of the mind, thereby helping us to experience an enjoyable sense of peace and well-being.

Stress, fear, and emotional and physical traumas may exhaust a person’s physical and emotional energy as well as cause a multitude of other issues. Western medicine is only now beginning to understand that health and illness may be directly related to our emotional state of inner harmony and balance. Releasing negative thoughts and emotions—and solidifying the positive changes—may help unlock the natural power of the body and mind, and help us to feel happier, healthier and able to rediscover the natural joy of life.
