Westport Rolfing Expands to Fairfield
Sachi Nakayama and Mikel Bensend with daughter Yuma Joyce
After more than five years on South Compo in Westport, Westport Rolfing now has offices in both Fairfield and Westport. Westport Rolfing’s new offices are in Kaia Yoga Studio in Westport and in North Fairfield close to Merritt Parkway’s Exit 46.
Sachi Nakayama and Mikel Bensend opened the doors of Westport Rolfing in December 2009 after moving to Fairfield County from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They offer Rolfing Structural Integration to help people with postural, functional and chronic pain issues. During this time, they have also become parents to Yuma Joyce and decided to put down roots in the community.
“We’ve come to love the area and the people; we decided it was time to buy in and invest in our community. Finding the right house which would give us an option for a separate treatment room with its own entrance was difficult, but we were successful and found one in the Lake Mohegan area not far from an excellent elementary school for our daughter.”
Since beginning Westport Rolfing, they’ve expanded their portfolio of services with trainings in functional biomechanics and neural-dermal modulation, completed their certified advanced Rolfer trainings in 2011 and 2012, and spent five weeks studying traditional Thai massage with Ajahn Pichest Boonthumme of Chiang Mai, an influential, respected teacher in Thailand.
