Virtual Poetry Intensive on Family and the Stories We Tell
NANCY SCHERLONG
Nancy Scherlong at Change Your Narrative Therapy LCSW PLLC, is a writer, clinical social worker and credentialed therapeutic writing specialist with over 25 years of experience in the field. The international trainer in the methods of poetry and journal therapy will host a Poetry Intensive II virtually via Zoom from September 24 to 26. This program will focus on poems, stories and writing practices centered around family, exploring our roles, choices, traditions and rituals.
Attendees will receive a collection of poems and stories based on explorations of all of the ways in which we define family. Workshop will include peer sessions that utilize both discussion and writing techniques. Techniques learned will be applicable toward work with individuals and groups, as well as adults and children alike.
Though this workshop is designed specifically for individuals engaged in training for poetry therapy and therapeutic writing, one need not be in a training process to attend. Those in training will also receive opportunities to design and deliver facilitation plans. There will be open discussion periods for questions throughout the workshop.
The times for the program are as follows (in EDT): September 24, 4 to 7pm; September 25, noon to 3pm, 4 to 6pm; September 26, noon to 2pm, 3 to 5pm. In order to register, one must be able to attend at least two-thirds of the total intensive (at least eight of the 12 hours). The week prior to the intensive beginning, each registrant will receive a detailed schedule of events and topics.
Early Bird pricing (until September 12) is $200, or $250 after. Training Cohort pricing is $125.
