Summary/services offered:
End of Life Doulas Barbara and Sue energetically hold space and provide support at this most sacred time of transition, without judgment or intention for the outcome. End-of-life doulas bring training and knowledge to the family during transition and provide bedside services as guided and needed. We offer regular trainings, talks and workshops to help all better understand death and dying.
What drew you to this profession?
The understanding through training and experience that death and dying is not taboo, it’s just another part of life. Both Reiki masters, Barbara and Sue are in service to many individuals, but serving as doulas is a complete honor. To be with someone during this time is sacred, with such an opening for the soul’s journey.
What sets your work apart from others in your profession?
There aren’t huge crowds in our profession, but we are hoping to change that with educational talks, workshops, trainings and meeting with people who are yearning to help in some way. The elder population is growing; we all know someone who might be facing this time.
What should someone expect from working with you?
We are available for consultations at any time to assess the needs of the individual or family. We are hospice-trained, but are not in service medically. We bring many energetic and counseling tools to instill peace in any situation. We also address legacy or remembrance work, or vigil planning logistics. We offer music services, during and after, and grief processing, all as needed. We honor all faiths and traditions.
What changes do you plan in 2020?
Barbara and Sue know life is lived more fully by embracing death, in ways that are quite natural and heart opening. We want to continue to help educate more people about death and dying with experiential classes and workshops and talks.
What is most important for Natural Awakenings’ readers to know?
We love our work, and if this subject resonates with you, we are here to help. This is something we all have in common and it is a beautiful and humbling subject to embrace.
