Soupstock Festival Returns to Shelton
Soupstock Festival’s 2017 music lineup brings together national and local touring acts and exciting newcomers to the stage. The annual event will take place over two days on June 10 and 11 at Veteran’s Park in Shelton. Established in 2010, the Soupstock Festival mixes arts, cuisine and culture with something for everyone. In total 20 musical performers will grace the festival’s two stages this year. The Kid’s Fun Zone has scheduled activities throughout the festival, including children’s yoga classes, hoop workshops and bounce houses. These complement annual staples such as the Artisan Expo Tent and the 8th Annual Pro/Am Soup Cook-Off as well as the Third annual Chili Cook-Off taking place June 11.
Directors Nicole Heriot-Mikula, Joe Mango and Derek Signore have created a music lineup that includes ska and reggae legends The Skatalites and electrofunk powerhouse Particle. They co-headline the main stage with newcomers Sophistafunk and American Idol’s Elise Testone. Also returning is favorite Ryan Montbleau with his new ensemble Hey Darlin’, featuring Hayley Jane. Also sharing top billing are local mainstays the Alpaca Gnomes and Bellas Bartok. The full lineup is available at the Soupstock Festival website.
Proceeds will benefit the Mary A. Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund, furthering art, craft and music education for children and young adults.
Major sponsors for this event include Sierra Nevada, 99.1 PLR, The Sound Magazine, Blue Point, Goose Island, Tuttle Insurance, Basement Systems, Tito’s Vodka and Stop and Shop.
