Knowing How to Swim Can Save Your Life
April is Adult Learn to Swim Month, an annual national campaign from the Swimming Saves Lives Foundation to help reduce drownings. As part of the month-long campaign, swim lesson providers associated with U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) will provide low- or no-cost swimming lessons to adults.
One in 10 people drowns every day in this country, the majority being adults. More than a third of adults in the United States cannot swim the length of a pool, which puts them at risk of becoming part of that statistic.
Adult learn-to-swim instructors are certified by USMS and swim lesson providers sponsored by the Swimming Saves Lives Foundation, which is the charitable arm of USMS, and U.S. Masters Swimming clubs and members.
