Healing the Healers’ Mind, Body, Soul and Spirit: Use Holistic Tools, Support and Connections

This past year saw so many deep issues come to the forefront. These affect us all. As healers, we often forget or are unsure what to do when it comes to making sure we receive healing as well. We spend all day working or helping others while trying to protect our own energy; even when we ground ourselves, there is energy that can creep in, or stir up emotions, fears and struggles. What avenues can we take and where can we even start?
Meditation and Holistic Tools
Meditation is a common practice for not only for adults, but is becoming quite popular for children. The benefits have long been studied and are now being widely accepted for overall health and well-being. There are many different ways to practice meditation, whether it be in a studio, group setting, or done individually on our own time in our home. It doesn’t matter how it’s done, just that the time is found to do it. Often we think, “Well I don’t have the time,” “or I can’t clear my mind that way, I just think of all the things that have to get done.” The truth is that we should look at meditation as one of the things we have to get done. We need to view it as a daily routine. If a few minutes is all that we can do, we still reap the benefits. We may even gain guidance into our lives, or melt away stress or worry.
Some people choose to make their meditation customized by having a special room dedicated to the practice, playing music, or using stones or crystals to aid in the healing. Some may find it beneficial to go on a meditation retreat to help focus solely on physical, emotional and spiritual health. Other methods that will assist the healer in healing include acupuncture, chiropractic care, Reiki, other forms of energy healing, herbal supplements, exercise, yoga and healthy eating.
Forgiveness
This is one of the hardest things to do for most people. As healers, we think we should be able to easily forgive. Yet we replay situations, conversations and more over and over again. Our ego is on overload just holding on. Eventually, we have to forgive whatever it may be, not necessarily for the other people involved, but for our own selves.
Divine Support Team
The divine support team (DST) is important to any healing process. It can be made up of our guides, power animals, passed loved ones, angels and any deities we may work with already or feel a connection to. Call them in every day. Ask them to help ground you and help you remain open to hearing them or seeing any signs they are sending. The more we work with them, the stronger the connection will become and the level of trust will be enhanced. Our DST can help us stay sane during the healing process. It is easy to feel alone when we are going through a healing crisis of some kind, but the truth is the divine is always there to help us through. We may have to ask for healing, help and guidance; even if it doesn’t come instantly, our request will be heard and it will come.
The truth is most of us have been in situations where we needed help at one point or another. Knowing and accepting that we are not alone in the healing process can have a great impact on the mind, body and spirit.
Asking for Help
Many people think healers have it all together and that nothing bothers us or affects our energy—and even if it does, we have the power to make it better. Although true on some levels, we are human first; it is hard to do healing work on ourselves while dealing with any personal issue that arises. There is a saying by Vine Deloria Jr.: “Religion is for people who’re afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for those who’ve already been there.” We experience something very difficult in our lives and then, all of a sudden, we come across people who need help healing the same things. Most healers know other healers and can go to them in a time of need. But sometimes we convince ourselves that we can heal ourselves or others are dealing with their own issues and healing so we won’t bother them. The truth is most of us have also been in situations where we needed help at one point or another. Knowing and accepting that we are not alone in the healing process can have a great impact on the mind, body and spirit.
By sharing our struggles, we open ourselves up to other methods of healing that perhaps we were previously unaware of and creates pathways of conversation and connection where they might not have existed before. Maybe someone close opens up about something going on with their lives and learns of a healer who specializes in that. We all know the synchronicities we experience when someone recommends a certain person that usually has a long waiting list, but an opening appears for us or instances where multiple people give us the same name or information. Those are signs from the Universe letting us know we are where we are meant to be. Open the mind and allow the Universe to guide and assist in the journey of healing ourselves. And remember, the darkest hour is just before dawn.
