There are a number of fun holiday events taking place in the southern Litchfield area this December. Here are a few:

New Milford Hands-On Train Display

Come to the historic New Milford Railroad Station and enjoy the 29th Annual Hands-On Train Display during the holiday season. Sponsored by the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce, the trains will be featured for this yearly event from noon to 6pm on December 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 and from noon to 4pm on December 24 (closed December 25). The event is free and open to the public.

Christmas in Woodbury

On December 3, there will be a town-wide Woodbury Christmas festival, which will include a Cub Scouts wreath sale and the Woodbury Junior Women’s club craft fair and visits with Santa. Museums, such as Glebe House and Hurd House, will be open and decorated. The First Congregational Church bazaar and St. Paul’s Christmas bazaar will also be a part of the festivities. United Methodist Church and St. Teresa’s Church will serve lunch. There will be a Nonnewaug High School plant sale, a Children’s Library ornament making and the tree lighting at North Green.

Native American Arts & Crafts Market

The Institute for American Indian Studies’ Winter Indian Arts & Crafts Market will take place on the weekends of December 3-4 and December 10-11. The hours are Saturday from 10am-4pm and Sunday from noon-4pm. Shop for holiday gifts from local Native American crafters, jewelers and artists. Meet and buy directly from the artists while learning about contemporary Native American art and cultures. Stop by to purchase gourds, pottery, jewelry, rattles, artwork, flutes and more.
