Natural Awakenings Fairfield & Southern Litchfield Counties

6th Annual Live Green Connecticut! Festival Returns to Norwalk

Live Green Connecticut! – a fun-filled, educational family destination – and the largest event of its kind in the state – is back.

The sixth annual festival will be held September 19 from 10am-5pm and September 20 from 10am-4pm at Taylor Farm Park in Norwalk. Admission is free.

Daphne Dixon and Scot Weicker, co-founders of Live Green Connecticut!, say this year’s Live Green Connecticut! will feature a 1898 Riker electric car, Frito-Lay’s natural gas-powered truck, blood pressure screenings from Norwalk Hospital and body fat testing. Live music will be featured on the Main Stage all day on both days, and food and beverages will be available including Frupel Ice made with organic fruit and locally brewed coffee from The Buzz Truck.

Dixon and Weicker say, “We are very excited that we have so many activities this year, as well as emerging green technology exhibits. The festival continues to grow and grow. This year is no exception – it will be bigger, better and greener than previous years!”

The Cool Kids’ Zone returns as a major feature. The area will feature pony rides, face painting, a petting zoo, environmental exhibits from SoundWaters, a prize wheel, a solar-powered merry-go-round, a bounce house  and an interactive art exhibit.

Throughout the year, the Connecticut organization provides sustainability information to municipalities, businesses and community members. The festival is the organization’s annual community outreach program and fundraiser. This year, Live Green Connecticut! has partnered with Wilton Go Green to promote the statewide Green Business Designation program. Bigelow Tea is among the first to become a Platinum Green Business Designee. Live Green Connecticut’s mission is “To educate municipal leaders, businesses and community members on sustainability and to connect them to each other. Building and maintaining a trusted network that provides thought leadership, supports smart energy management, and encourages conservation.
