Fairfield County residents accustomed over the summer to enjoying the organic produce and goods from Westport Farmers’ Market, take heart! The winter market at Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens in Westport opens on November 15.

Through the winter, a variety of fresh vegetables will be available including freshly harvested root crops like parsnips, celery root (celeriac), turnips and rutabagas. Carrots, potatoes and garlic as well as herbs, greens and mushrooms will provide shoppers all the ingredients needed for fall’s hearty soups and stews. Vendors—not yet announced—will also offer farm-fresh eggs, meats, cheeses, breads and baked goods, pastas, honey, jams and jellies, and maple syrup.

Open year-round, Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens offers a wide selection of annuals and perennials, landscape products, and USDA Certified Organic herbs and
vegetables. In addition, they offer lectures and seminars to support year-round garden preparation, maintenance and enjoyment.
