All-Star Transportation’s John Dufour Named “Sustainability All-Star”
John Dufour
John Dufour, the president of All-Star Transportation, a privately-held Connecticut school bus company, has been named a “Sustainability All-Star” by Green Fleet magazine based on his efforts to green the company’s school bus fleet. The award was presented at the 2013 Green Fleet Conference in Phoenix, AZ.
This year, All-Star Transportation purchased propane-driven vehicles to run its 51-bus fleet serving the Torrington Public Schools on more environmentally friendly propane gas. The school district also benefited by getting a 50 cent per gallon tax reimbursement for switching to an alternative fuel and a fuel tax exemption of 18 cents per gallon. All-Star Transportation also utilizes several hybrid vehicles and recycles all waste fluids from its diesel vehicles to heat its maintenance facilities.
“This is well-deserved recognition among your peers and the key movers and shakers in the area of sustainability,” said Lauren Fletcher, Managing Editor of Green Fleet about Dufour.
