Natural Awakenings Fairfield & Southern Litchfield Counties

Women of Wellness (WOW) Helps the Sandy Hook Community

In the wake of the tragedy that struck Sandy Hook on December 14, 2012, Women of Wellness (WOW) set out to help Newtown and the Sandy Hook community work through the many stages of healing.

Out of that desire was born Building Our Future, a night of fun, healthy food, learning and connection for Fairfield County Parents. Held on May 2, the event featured Michael Thompson, a consultant and psychologist specializing in children and families and bestselling author, who gave a speech, How to Raise Responsible Children.

With the help of donations from local organizations, businesses and families, more than $3,700 was raised to benefit Healing Newtown. The project is managed by the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission and supported by the Town of Newtown, the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut and the Connecticut Office of the Arts.
