Ready to Take Charge of Your Health?: Health Wellness & Sports Expo 2013 Comes to Sport & Wellness in Danbury, June 8 & 9
The Health Wellness & Sports Expo 2013 is coming to Danbury, CT Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9, at Sport & Wellness, the 75,000-square-foot tennis and fitness facility at 17-27 Starr Road. With something for everyone, the expo, which is free to the public, promises to be educational, interactive and entertaining for all ages and convey its overall message: take charge of your health.
Produced by TMK Sports & Entertainment, LLC, the event will feature 75 exhibitors plus fitness and dance demos, on-court tennis activities for adults and children and more. Special guests will include Emily Audibert, Miss Connecticut 2012, a dancer and advocate for the “Let’s Move” campaign started by Michelle Obama. Exhibits will cover alternative medicine, integrated nutrition, weight management, children’s health, pet wellness, healthy homes, fitness programs, financial health, green technology, sports medicine, lifetime sports and more. Healthy food and beverages will be available from local markets and restaurants.
“The mission of this expo is to empower individuals and families to take charge of their health and to promote healthy lifestyle choices for all ages,” said Tamara Ketler, president of TMK Sports & Entertainment. “The event also presents an opportunity to experience the health and wellness professionals in the community and learn about the services and products they offer.”
Exhibitor highlights will include Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, which will offer an opportunity for attendees to meet top physicians and ask questions about children’s health. Debbie Miron, Shaklee independent distributor, will showcase many health products and launch Shaklee’s new Biggest Loser 180 Weight Loss Challenge. For the latest in health, fitness and sports technology products, Best Buy will feature wireless fitness and sleep trackers, digital scales, body fat monitors and more. For pets, VCA Northside Animal Hospital will provide complimentary care packages and distribute coupons for free pet screenings at their facility in Danbury. Other health specialists will be on board to showcase the latest in treatments and advances and provide health screenings. Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation for New York and Connecticut will offer bone density screenings, chiropractic consultations and mini massages.
Attendees will be able to receive complimentary foot analysis from New Balance of New Canaan, the athletic footwear store, learn how magnetic jewelry can help increase circulation and reduce pain from My World of Magnets, and watch how healthy meals can be quickly created by Vitamix, the maker of high performance blenders.
For healthy homes, some of the exhibitors will include Dr. Energy Saver, which will provide the latest information on home comfort and efficiency, and Basement Systems, which will showcase its services to combat mold, dust mites and air pollutants in the house.
Additional exhibitors will include RBC Wealth Management, which will provide information for financial health, the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York, which offers classes and career programs in health, Danbury Chiropractic & Wellness, Cutco Cutlery, Beyond Body Pads, Kitchen Magic and more.
“We are excited to host the Health Wellness & Sports Expo 2013,” said Scott Robinson, General Manager of Sport & Wellness. “This event will allow people to gather important information about their health and well-being, try some new and beneficial activities and perhaps make some significant lifestyle changes.” Sport & Wellness offers tennis lessons and programs, personal training, group exercise programs, summer camp, children’s ballet, a climbing wall and more. At the Expo, attendees will have the opportunity to try the popular Quickstart tennis program throughout the weekend.
Those who bring in one or more nonperishable food items will receive a free raffle ticket for the opportunity to win a healthy door prize. Members of the Danbury Athletic Youth Organization will distribute to the food to local pantries. Raffle tickets can also be purchased for $5, which will be donated to the Danbury Athletic Youth Organization. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the weekend. The Danbury Athletic Youth Organization, (D.A.Y.O.), is a nonprofit organization formed in 1978 to encourage organized athletic programs in the community, to promote life lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork and character building to the children of the greater Danbury area.
