Hygeia Expands into Garden Cottage
Hygeia Natural Healing Center and New Age store in New Milford has a new home at 266 Kent Road (Route 7). The new quarters, a charming cottage, offers more room and a more open layout, allowing Hygeia to expand its services to include more workshops, such as Yoga and Qi Gong. Classes will have their own dedicated room, complete with new wood flooring. French doors will open to a spring garden. “It’s exciting to have a space where we can do everything we’ve ever planned and offer more to our customers,” says co-owner Maya Cointreau. Named after a Greek goddess of healing, Hygeia has long been a source of natural health supplements and various healing therapies, including massage and Reiki, astrology, acupressure, counseling, crystals, metaphysical books and gifts. Believing that supporting the local economy is primary, the owners consign almost all their jewelry and many craft items, such as dream pillows, candles and pottery, from local artisans. Over 40 trained independent therapists and natural healers offer their services through Hygeia. The store operates online as well.
