“Yoga for the Enlightened Years” Training
Registration is now open for the Yoga for Seniors Certification workshop hosted by Lotus Gardens Yoga School. The area’s only advanced yoga teacher training that focuses on the aging population will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, at My Yoga Place in Monroe. Though the certification workshop focuses on active seniors and the common concerns of today’s aging baby boomers, the training is open to all yoga teachers. Participants will learn techniques for dealing with joint replacement, osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease, and bereavement. The curriculum will include the secrets of sequencing for an older body and the latest research on yoga and its proven effects on the body and mind. Workshop faculty will be Lara Azzarito Ward, experienced 500 Hour Yoga Teacher and founder of Lotus Gardens, LLC. Lara’s 25 years of teaching have included Danbury and New Milford Hospitals’ Cardiac Rehabilitation programs, chair/gentle yoga classes, and alignment and strength classes for seniors. As the first Yoga Alliance-approved school in Connecticut, Lotus Gardens offers multidisciplinary teacher trainings, immersion workshops, specialty trainings for teachers, and corporate wellness programs.
The unique training will be given over two days: Saturday, June 13 from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The site of the training, My Yoga Place, is at 494 Main Street, Monroe. Tuition is $495 if registered before May 25 and $530 if registered thereafter. For more information, or to register, visit LotusGardensYoga.com or call 860.354.6241.
