Mentoring Group Supports Remarried Couples and Stepparents
Judy Gotlieb, LMT, CCEP, MA, and Neal Brodsky, MPA, MA
Judy Gotlieb, LMT, CCEP, MA, and Neal Brodsky, MPA, MA, are Certified Exceptional Marriage Mentors and graduates of the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Fairfield University. Married since 1997, they bring to their work the experience of divorce and the challenge of blending families, and have started a weekly ten-session group in Wilton. The group will support remarried couples and stepfamilies through a range of typical concerns, such as: boundary issues with children, loyalty conflicts, family triangles, role confusion, and financial complexities. Their Exceptional Marriage Mentoring (EMM) program incorporates the principles of Core Energetics, a body-oriented transformative therapy with a wellness perspective. It is highly interactive, going beyond talk therapy to include the active, embodied expression of a wide range of emotions with movement, sound and touch. Part of the work of EMM is challenging some of the rigid patterns of behavior that couples get caught in that develop from family history and past relationships and are often based on fear. The goal is to move couples from stuck interaction styles, taking them to open, alive and emotionally available places where they are more authentic with one another.
The Remarried Couples & Stepparents group will meet weekly for ten weeks on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in their Wilton home office. For more information, or to set up a free consultation to determine participation in the group, call Judy Gotlieb at 203.834.1012, or email [email protected].
