Kayak for a Cause
Kayak for a Cause was created as a way to blend a love of the sport with commitment to helping good causes. Each year, kayakers join together to cross Long Island Sound, raising money for their favorite charities, most of which work to protect our local waters, environment and community. Even if you've never picked up a paddle, you can help by supporting the paddlers and donating.
Volunteer Kim Beaumont and her family are committed to raising $2500 to support the following charities: The Hole in the Wall Gang, Outward Bound, Save the Sound, The Maritime Aquarium, and Builders Beyond Borders. Kim’s family is paddling 13 miles, from Northport Long Island to Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, and have been training since the end of May. Calf Pasture is the scene of a Kayak for a Cause Guinness World Record event, breaking the record for the most sea kayaks ever launched simultaneously by launching 303. A $25 donation will admit you to two parties related to Kayak for a Cause IX, one of which involves free kayaking. A larger donation will get you more at the Saturday, July 25 party: tickets, a blanket, picnic basket and meal, or lobster dinner and open bar. Great bands and waterfront partying are on the agenda.
