Get Balanced This Spring with Panchakarma
The Magdalene, a therapeutic massage practice specializing in Ayurveda, will begin offering Panchakarma treatments this spring in collaboration with Ayur Wellness Center and other holistic practitioners in Norwalk. Panchakarma (Sanskrit for “five actions”) is a detoxification and cleansing program for body, mind and spirit that comes from India’s ancient preventative health system, known as the “science of life.” It involves bodywork and nutritional therapies that help remove deep-rooted toxins caused by stress and illness, using Nature’s wisdom to restore health and vitality.
Panchakarma is like hitting the body’s reset button to maintain optimal health and bring harmony to the entire system, which is why it’s usually performed in the spring and fall, according to Lorraine Gengo, owner of The Magdalene. It can also be used at other times to combat low energy, digestive and eliminative problems, as well as other imbalances. “I am very excited to be offering Panchakarma in conjunction with Vaidya Archana Kulkarni, who brings a wealth of experience and Ayurvedic knowledge to the program,” Gengo said. Kulkarni received her doctorate in Ayurvedic medicine from Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, and has been practicing for 10 years, most recently at her center in Easton, Pa., before relocating to Norwalk in December.
To learn more about the program, there will be a free informational workshop on Wednesday, March 10 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at The Magdalene, 5 Wall Street, Norwalk. RSVP at 914.844.4294. For more general information on Panchakarma and Ayurveda, visit AyurWellness.com.
