12th Annual Fairfield Garden Expo Heralds Spring

The 12th Annual Fairfield Garden Expo, expected to draw more than 5,000 attendees to Fairfield Ludlowe High School, will usher in the spring with a weekend full of colorful and diverse features for home and garden enthusiasts on Saturday and Sunday, March 20 and 21. Authors and gardening experts will speak on topics that appeal to both novices and the experienced. More than 90 unique home- and garden-related exhibits will be on hand from homemade gourmet food items to vintage garden furniture and live plants. Items that add structure to gardens, such as containers, stone water features, metal and wind sculptures, continue to be strong outdoor decor themes.There is a new and expanded Food Court for relaxation and refreshment, and entertainment by musicians, including Fairfield County’s own Peter Bauer, playing instrumental guitar and sharing some of his works. Demonstrations and lectures by experts include: Lorraine Ballato - Safe Solutions to Home Gardens and Landscapes; Kate Jamison - Lasting Landscapes for All Seasons; Nick Mancini - Worm Composting; Vincent A. Simeone - Great Flowering Landscape Trees; Chris Connors - Chainsaw Artist, and Bill Kovitz,World Renowned Ice Sculpture Artist- Ice Matters. The Garden Expo is presented by the Garden Expo Committee for the benefit of River-Lab, a program of the Mill River Wetland Committee, a unique hands-on program of environmental study.
